Customs to test six tanks seized from Barrick Gold
Santo Domingo.- The Customs Agency on Wednesday announced the
confiscation of six tanks of a material which Barrick Gold Corp. had
declared as limestone, though customs technicians suspect it’s
camouflaged gold.
An elnuevodiario.com.do source said Customs
inspectors seized the material at Las Americas International Airport,
and took part of it for testing in Miami to determine the material’s
true content.
They said the tests results should arrive in the country Thursday.
They had samples test send to labs in DR, USA and Spain.
The cargo of six tanks to be shipped to Canada via Miami is under guard at Warehouse 10 of the freight terminal.
The
new revision of the Barrick gold contract has not even been approved by
congress, and the executives at Barrick are up to their old nasty
tricks.
Everything it's clear: you don't send limestone by air. It has no value in and of itself , and it was shipped under heavy measure of security.
It's
amazing how naive they think Dominicans are.The government should seize
the shipment, close the mine and fine Barrick Gold for smuggling, like
they did in Chile a couple weeks ago..
These con artists should
be in jail for sure. Not to mention the damage they are doing to the
land in DR , just one day after environmental day .
What is
really impressive , it's not the old dirty tricks of Barrick Gold , but
the apathetic attitude of the Dominican government to enforce the law.
Barrick
Gold betray the good will of the Dominican people and the Dominican
president, and they are poisoning the land, the air and our rivers.
We
personally don't believe in Barrick Gold no more. Not the executive over
here , not the ones in Canada either. They are just an immoral company
with dishonest individuals trying to get ahead with a sneaky
contract disrespecting mother nature and human lives.
Stop that chicanery
Say NO to Barrick Gold!
